Retail ERP and POS Software in Muscat across the capital

Muscat is Oman's largest market, and many of its retail groups are family-owned businesses with stores spread across the governorates. A group might run a mall store in Qurum, a counter in Al Mouj, a long-standing shop in Muttrah and a warehouse in Rusayl Industrial Estate. Symake's retail system brings those sites onto one database. Prices are kept in rials and baisa to three decimals, OmanNet and card payments are tracked per shift, and stock moves between Ghala and the branches are recorded as transfers. Our consultants fly in from Bengaluru for workshops and go-live.

Till and ledger features for Muscat stores

Built around OmanNet, 5% VAT and three-decimal pricing

OmanNet payments

OmanNet payments

Debit cards on the OmanNet network, international cards and Apple Pay are accepted through supported terminals and totalled per shift.

VAT receipts

VAT receipts

Receipts show VAT at 5% for each line and in total, giving the Oman Tax Authority a clear record of every sale.

Baisa rounding

Baisa rounding

Totals are calculated to three decimals and rounded the way you choose for cash, so drawers balance at the end of each shift.

Offline till

Offline till

A till that loses its connection keeps selling. Receipts and stock movements wait locally and upload when the link comes back.

Return rules

Return rules

Set a return window, require the original receipt and decide whether refunds go back as cash, card or store credit.

Loyalty scheme

Loyalty scheme

Points, member prices and birthday offers work in every Muscat branch and in stores elsewhere in Oman on the same system.

Shift reports

Shift reports

Each cashier closes with a counted total. The report compares it to expected cash and card amounts and flags any gap.

Branch transfers

Branch transfers

Move stock from the warehouse in Ghala or Rusayl to any branch, with the quantity in transit visible until it is received.

Accounts link

Sales, VAT, card fees and cash differences post to the general ledger in Omani rials as they happen, ready for the VAT return.

Family groups in Muscat often keep the finance team in one building and the stores spread across the city. Symake gives that team a live view. They see sales and VAT by branch, cash differences by shift and stock that has been sent but not yet received. Owners can compare a Muttrah store against a Qurum mall counter on the same report, and approve large refunds without being there.

  • VAT at 5% summarised for the return
  • Stock in transit between sites
  • Cash differences by cashier and shift
  • Branch comparison on one report

Built for retail counters in Muscat

Oman has charged VAT at 5% since April 2021, administered by the Oman Tax Authority. The next change is Fawtara, the national e-invoicing programme. Phase 1 is a pilot planned from August 2026 for the largest taxpayers, phase 2 is planned for early 2027 and phase 3 for mid to late 2027, though the dates are not final. Symake keeps sales and VAT data structured so that when your group is brought into Fawtara, invoices can be issued in the required format without changing how cashiers work.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the POS accept OmanNet debit cards?

Yes, through payment terminals supported in Oman. OmanNet cards, international cards and Apple Pay are recorded as separate methods, so each shift total can be matched to the bank settlement.

How does the system deal with baisa?

Prices and totals are kept in Omani rials to three decimals. You choose how cash totals are rounded at the till, and any rounding difference is posted to its own account.

When does Fawtara e-invoicing affect Muscat retailers?

The Oman Tax Authority has planned a pilot from August 2026 for the largest taxpayers, with phase 2 planned for early 2027 and phase 3 later in 2027. The dates are not final, so we track them with you.

Can our Muttrah store and our mall counters share stock?

Yes. Every branch sees its own stock, and authorised staff can see other branches. Transfers between Muttrah, Qurum, Al Mouj or the warehouse are recorded step by step.

Will consultants come to Muscat for go-live?

Yes. Consultants fly in from Bengaluru for workshops and go-live days. Symake has no office in Oman, so ongoing support is handled remotely in English.

Can we run an online store from the same stock?

Yes. An online store can share items, prices and stock with your branches, so customers in Muscat see what is actually available before they order.

How are VAT returns prepared?

Sales and purchases carry their VAT at 5% from the moment they are recorded. At period end you get a summary by branch that your accountant can use to file with the Oman Tax Authority.

Can we limit what each cashier can do?

Yes. Roles control discounts, voids, refunds and drawer openings. Anything outside a cashier's rights needs a supervisor login, and every action is logged.
