Adopting Production Management Software for Manufacturers in Qatar

Qatar is a compact market, and most manufacturing groups are run from Doha, but their plants are spread out: the Doha Industrial Area in Al Rayyan, Ras Bufontas and Umm Alhoul in the Qatar Free Zones, and Mesaieed Industrial City in the south. Buyers in Lusail, Al Khor and Doha expect firm dates. Symake starts the plan from demand. Forecasts and firm orders drive a master schedule, which drives material needs, purchase suggestions and capacity load for each plant. When demand changes, the whole chain recalculates and planners see the exceptions instead of rebuilding the plan.

Demand-led planning features for Qatari plants

How each part turns demand into a plan your plants can follow

Demand forecast

Demand forecast

Enter or import expected demand per product family and month, and compare it with actual orders as they arrive.

Forecast consumption

Forecast consumption

Firm orders use up the forecast for the same period, so demand is not counted twice in the plan.

Master scheduling

Master scheduling

Turn net demand into a build plan per plant, with frozen near-term weeks and flexible later ones.

Multi-level MRP

Multi-level MRP

Needs flow down through sub-assemblies to raw materials, each offset by its own lead time.

Capacity checks

Capacity checks

Work centre load is calculated per plant, so an overload in Mesaieed is seen before it delays a Doha buyer.

Supplier planning

Supplier planning

Purchase suggestions are sent to buyers with dates and quantities, ready to convert into orders.

Partner operations

Partner operations

Steps done by subcontractors in Qatar or overseas are planned with their own lead times and costs.

Delivery promising

Delivery promising

Sales can see free quantity by week before confirming dates to buyers anywhere across the country.

Lot traceability

Lot traceability

Lots and serial numbers are recorded from receipt to delivery for audits and buyer queries.

Starting every plan from demand, not from last month

Many Qatari plants plan by repeating last month's volumes and adjusting by feel. Symake replaces that habit with a simple chain. Demand comes first, from forecasts and firm orders. The master schedule decides what to build and where. Material planning lists what to buy and make. Capacity planning checks that the work fits. Each link is visible, so when a forecast is wrong you see exactly what it changed.

  • Forecasts compared with actual orders monthly
  • Build plans set per plant and per week
  • Buy and make lists produced from the schedule
  • Forecast errors traced to their effects

Planning across Qatar, one cycle at a time

The monthly loop from forecast to released work orders

Update demand

Sales updates forecasts for each product family, and new firm orders are added from every company.

Net demand

Firm orders consume forecast, and stock and open work reduce what still needs to be built.

Assign plants

Volumes are allocated to plants in Doha, Al Rayyan, Umm Alhoul or Mesaieed by capacity.

Run MRP

Material planning produces buy, make and subcontract suggestions for each site.

Check load

Work centre load per plant is reviewed and overloaded weeks are resolved by the planner.

Release

Approved orders are released and progress is tracked against the plan until delivery.

Production planning for Qatar plants

Qatar has not yet introduced VAT, and while an e-invoicing law has been approved, no dates have been set. Symake therefore issues invoices in QAR without tax lines, with VAT settings ready to switch on once a law takes effect. The working week runs Sunday to Thursday, with a Friday-Saturday weekend in every plant calendar. Groups with sites in the Qatar Free Zones and on the mainland can run each as a separate company, while their planning still runs as one across Doha, Al Rayyan, Al Wakrah and Mesaieed.

No VAT in Qatar yet, with settings ready to enable
E-invoicing law approved, dates still to come
Free-zone and mainland companies in one plan
Sunday-to-Thursday calendars in every plant

Plan your Qatar plants from demand, not habit

Frequently Asked Questions

Can one system plan plants in Doha, Al Rayyan and Mesaieed?

Yes. Each plant has its own stock, work centres and calendar, and one planning run covers them all. Head office can move volume between plants when one is overloaded.

Is Symake ready for VAT if Qatar introduces it?

Yes. Tax settings are already in the system and can be switched on when a VAT law takes effect. Until then, invoices in Qatar are issued in QAR without tax lines.

What does forecast consumption mean?

When a firm order arrives, it uses up part of the forecast for that period. This stops the plan from counting the same demand twice, once as forecast and again as an order.

Does Symake have a branch anywhere in Qatar?

No. Symake has no office in Qatar. The team works from Bengaluru, consultants fly in for workshops, training and go-live at your sites, and support is remote in overlapping hours.

How far ahead should we plan?

Most groups plan a few months ahead in weekly buckets, with the nearest weeks frozen. The right horizon depends on your longest material lead time and how far ahead buyers order.

Can we compare our forecast with actual orders?

Yes. A report sets forecast against firm orders per product family and month, so sales can see where estimates were high or low and improve the next forecast.

What is multi-level MRP?

It is material planning that works through every level of a product, from the finished item through sub-assemblies and components down to raw materials. Each level is offset by its own lead time.

Can subcontractors outside Qatar be part of the plan?

Yes. An outside operation can use a partner in Qatar or abroad. Its lead time includes shipping both ways, and the plan schedules the return before the next step.
