What Production Management Software for Manufacturers in Oman does

Omani manufacturing groups rarely sit in one place. A group may press parts at Rusayl Industrial Estate in Muscat, assemble at Sohar and pack for export near Salalah, with a newer unit in Duqm. Symake's production planning holds one master schedule across all of them, then splits each order by site based on capacity, stock and distance to the buyer. Material planning runs per site, so a shortage in Nizwa does not hide behind spare stock in Sur. Transfers between governorates are planned with transit time, and each company keeps its own books under the same group view. Head office sees one plan; each plant sees its own part of it.

Deciding which Omani plant takes an order

A large order arrives at head office. The planning tool checks which sites can make it, compares their free capacity and stock, and adds transit time to the buyer. It proposes a split: part from Sohar, part from Nizwa. The planner accepts or adjusts it, and work orders, transfers and purchase suggestions are created for each site in one step.

  • Sites compared on capacity and stock
  • Transit time to the buyer included
  • Split proposals the planner can adjust
  • Work orders created per site at once

Production planning for Oman plants

Omani VAT, charged at 5% since April 2021, is collected by the Oman Tax Authority. A group with several companies files VAT for each registered entity, and Symake keeps the books and returns separate while planning runs across the group. Transfers between companies are invoiced with the right treatment. The national e-invoicing system, Fawtara, is arriving in stages. A pilot for a first group of large taxpayers was planned from August 2026, phase 2 is indicated for early 2027 and phase 3 for mid to late 2027. Madayn runs the industrial estates at Rusayl, Sohar, Raysut, Nizwa, Sur and elsewhere, while Sohar, Salalah and Duqm have free zones.

What Omani groups gain from one plan

Separate plans per plant hide spare capacity in one place and shortages in another. A group schedule shows both, so head office can move work and material to where they do the most good.

✓ Spare capacity visible across sites
✓ Shortages shown per plant
✓ Transfers planned like purchases
✓ Separate books for each company
✓ Lot trace across governorates
✓ Group and site dashboards

Frequently Asked Questions

Can plants in Muscat, Sohar and Salalah run on one plan?

Yes. Each plant is a site with its own work centres and warehouses, and the group master schedule covers all of them. Orders can be assigned to any site, and transfers between sites are planned with transit time.

How does the system choose which site makes an order?

It compares free capacity, available material and transit time to the buyer for each eligible site, then proposes a split. Planners can accept it, change it or set fixed rules for certain products.

Can each Omani company keep separate VAT records?

Yes. Every registered company has its own accounts, VAT settings and returns. Planning and stock can be shared across the group, while tax documents and filings stay with the correct entity.

Do we have to go live at every site together?

No. Most groups start with their busiest plant and add others one at a time. Until a site joins, its demand can be planned centrally and passed to it as a list.

Which Omani free zones and estates does the setup support?

Any of them. Sites at Madayn estates such as Rusayl, Sohar, Raysut, Nizwa and Sur, and companies in the Sohar, Salalah and Duqm free zones, are set up as sites or companies according to your legal structure.

How is Fawtara handled for a group with several entities?

Each entity's invoices are kept as structured data. As the Fawtara phase that applies to an entity is confirmed, e-invoicing output is switched on for that company, while the others continue as they are.

Will a lot keep its trace when it moves between governorates?

Yes. Lot and serial numbers stay with the goods through every transfer. A trace from a delivery in Sur can reach back to inputs received at Rusayl without breaking at the site boundary.

Do consultants visit sites outside Muscat?

Yes. Consultants travel from Bengaluru to the sites that need on-site workshops or training, and other sessions run online. Support hours overlap the Omani working week for every site.
