Odoo Migration Services in Hosur that keep e-way bills moving

A firm in SIPCOT Phase 2 that raised its first Odoo invoice years ago is often still on Odoo 15 or 16, with custom modules written by a Bengaluru freelancer who has since moved on. Teams on Bagalur Road and in Mathigiri tell us the same thing: the system works, but nobody wants to touch it before a GST filing. Symake starts with an audit of every custom module and third-party app, then decides with you which ones to port, which ones current Odoo now covers and which ones to retire. Because Hosur firms send goods to Bengaluru daily, we check that e-way bill and inter-state invoice data come across cleanly before the move is signed off.

What the move covers for a Hosur team

Nine pieces of work, each written into the scope

Database audit

Database audit

We list every module, customization and third-party app in your database, with notes on what each one does today.

Target version choice

Target version choice

We compare Odoo 18, 19 and 20 against your needs and agree the version in writing before any code is touched.

Custom code porting

Custom code porting

Modules still needed are rewritten for the new version, while ones that current Odoo now covers are retired with your consent.

Master data cleanup

Master data cleanup

Duplicate customers, vendors and products are merged, and GSTINs and HSN codes are checked before they cross over.

Open balance transfer

Open balance transfer

Unpaid invoices, advances and vendor dues move across party by party, so ageing reports match on both sides.

Stock reconciliation

Stock reconciliation

Quantities and values per location are compared before and after the move, and any gap is explained to you.

Rehearsal run

Rehearsal run

A full practice migration runs on a copy, so timing, errors and missing data surface well before the real date.

Cut-over with rollback

Cut-over with rollback

The switch happens on a planned date, and the old system stays ready to resume if a check fails that weekend.

Hosting decision

Hosting decision

We help you choose between your own server, Odoo.sh and Odoo Online, and explain what each one does not allow.

From an old Odoo version to Odoo 20

Odoo 20 was released on 24 September 2026, and Odoo now backs only the last three major versions, which means 18, 19 and 20. A Hosur database still on Odoo 17 no longer gets fixes, and anything on 16 or older is best handled as a full project rather than a quick jump. Enterprise customers can use Odoo's upgrade service for the standard part of the database, but custom modules still have to be ported separately.

  • Odoo 17 is now out of Odoo's support
  • Standard data upgraded through Odoo's service
  • Custom modules ported and tested separately
  • Odoo 16 or older planned as a full project

How a Hosur migration runs, start to finish

Six stages, each one closed with your sign-off

Audit

We read your database, list custom modules and note which reports your team relies on.

Plan

Target version, hosting and what to retire are agreed in a written scope with fixed deliverables.

Port

Custom code is rewritten for the chosen version and tested against your real data.

Test copy

Your accounts and stock users work on an upgraded copy and log anything that looks wrong.

Rehearse

We run the full migration once as practice and time every step of it.

Cut over

The real move happens on the agreed date, with a rollback plan if any check fails.

Moving Hosur businesses onto current Odoo

Symake has moved databases for clients in real estate, manufacturing, retail, healthcare, distribution and logistics, education, FMCG and hotels, and the checks change little from one to the next. In Hosur the usual extra is inter-state work: Tamil Nadu GST for local sales, the Rs 1 lakh intra-state e-way bill threshold, and the Rs 50,000 limit for goods crossing into Karnataka. Firms above Rs 5 crore turnover also need e-invoicing settings carried across. Training on the upgraded screens is given in Tamil or Kannada, whichever your staff prefer.

Frequently Asked Questions

We are on Odoo 17 in Hosur. Do we need to move now?

Odoo 17 left support when Odoo 20 came out on 24 September 2026. Your system keeps working, but it no longer gets fixes from Odoo. We suggest planning the upgrade before your next financial year close so it does not clash with audit work.

Will inter-state invoices to Bengaluru customers survive the upgrade?

Yes. We compare GSTR-1 data, e-way bill numbers and place-of-supply fields on the old and new databases for a sample period. Any mismatch is fixed on the test copy before the real move.

Can our Hosur and Krishnagiri staff test the upgrade without stopping work?

They work on a separate upgraded copy while the live system runs as normal. They enter typical transactions, print invoices and run reports, and note anything that looks different.

What happens to the custom modules a freelancer wrote for us?

We read the code, check what it does, and compare it with what current Odoo now does out of the box. Some modules are ported, some are replaced by standard features, and you decide on each one in writing.

Do Enterprise customers get the upgrade done by Odoo itself?

Enterprise subscriptions include Odoo's upgrade service for the standard part of the database. Custom modules and third-party apps are not covered, so those are ported separately, and someone still has to test the result with your data.

We use Odoo Community. Can it still be upgraded?

Yes. Community databases usually go through the OpenUpgrade project plus manual fixes for gaps it does not cover. Some teams choose this moment to move to Enterprise instead, and we explain the cost and feature trade-offs both ways.

What if something goes wrong on cut-over weekend?

The rollback plan is written before the date. If a reconciliation check fails, users return to the old database, which has been kept untouched, and we fix the issue before trying again.

Can we move from our own server to Odoo.sh at the same time?

Yes, and many teams combine the two. Odoo.sh lets you keep custom modules. Odoo Online does not allow custom code, so it only suits databases that run on standard features.
