How to scope Manufacturing ERP Software in Saudi Arabia

Saudi manufacturing groups rarely sit in one city. MODON runs industrial cities across Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Madinah, and a group may make one range in the Eastern Province and another on the Red Sea coast while selling to project buyers in the NEOM region. Each region often grows its own way of working. Symake's ERP gives every plant the same item codes, costing rules and approval chain, while each company keeps its own ledger and VAT number. Consultants fly into the main regions for design and go-live, and the build and support are delivered from Bengaluru.

A Kingdom-wide ERP for manufacturing groups

Regional plants, group companies and ZATCA compliance in one

Regional plants

Regional plants

Set up plants in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam or Madinah, each with its own warehouses, work centres and managers.

Group companies

Group companies

Run several legal entities in one system, with inter-company sales and purchases recorded on both sides.

Central purchasing

Central purchasing

Combine material needs from plants in different regions into group contracts with agreed prices and terms.

Material planning

Material planning

Requirements are calculated per plant from orders and forecasts, and transfers are suggested before purchases.

Work orders

Work orders

Each plant runs its own work orders and routings, and the group sees output and scrap by site every day.

Project orders

Project orders

Large orders for project buyers carry their own schedule, partial dispatches and progress invoices.

Product costing

Product costing

Standard and actual costs are kept per plant, so the group knows what each product costs to make in each region.

ZATCA e-invoicing

ZATCA e-invoicing

Every company's invoices are produced in phase 2 format with the stamp, QR code and Arabic fields, and sent through FATOORA.

Board reporting

Board reporting

Directors see sales, margin, stock and receivables by company and region, refreshed as transactions are posted.

One rollout plan for plants in several regions

A national rollout fails when every region designs its own version. Symake starts with a group design agreed at head office, proves it at one plant, then brings the other regions on in turn. Each plant gets training on site, and the group's FATOORA integration is completed company by company. By the end, a product made in Dammam and in Jeddah is costed, invoiced and reported the same way.

  • Group design agreed before any build
  • One plant proves the design first
  • Regions added one by one with training
  • FATOORA integrated company by company

Six phases for a Saudi group rollout

Head office design, pilot plant, then each region in turn

Head office

Consultants meet group finance and operations to agree companies, codes, costing and approvals.

Pilot plant

One plant, often near head office, goes live first and runs a full month on the new system.

Integration

FATOORA phase 2 is tested company by company, with invoices checked before live clearance.

Regions

Plants in other regions follow, each with on-site training from consultants who fly in.

Consolidation

The first group month-end is closed with finance, checking inter-company balances and reports.

Support

Remote support from Bengaluru covers every region, during hours that overlap your working week.

Built for manufacturers in Saudi Arabia

Across the Kingdom, manufacturers charge 15% VAT and file with ZATCA, and FATOORA phase 2 is reaching more companies wave by wave. Wave 25 covers businesses with VAT-subject revenue above SAR 187,500 in any year from 2022 to 2025, and their integration deadline is 1 February 2027. For a group, each company in scope must produce UBL XML invoices with a cryptographic stamp and QR code, clear business invoices in real time and report simplified invoices within 24 hours. Symake's ERP handles this per company, and every printed invoice carries the Arabic fields ZATCA requires. Plants in MODON cities keep their site records alongside.

What a Saudi group should test before choosing

Ask each vendor to show two plants in different regions making the same product, an inter-company sale and a consolidated report, all with phase 2 invoices. Then ask for a written rollout plan. Symake provides both before you commit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can plants in Dammam, Jeddah and Riyadh share one ERP?

Yes. Each plant has its own warehouses, work centres and managers, while items, suppliers and costing rules are shared. The group sees every region together.

How is FATOORA handled when we have several companies?

Each company is integrated with phase 2 separately, using its own VAT number. Invoices are produced in UBL XML with stamp and QR code, and cleared or reported as ZATCA requires.

Which plant should go live first?

Usually one close to head office with a stable team and typical products. Proving the design there makes the later regions faster and lower risk.

Can we handle large orders for buyers in the NEOM region?

Yes. Project orders can carry their own schedule, partial dispatches and progress invoices, with the job cost compared against the quoted price.

Do consultants travel to every region?

Consultants fly in from Bengaluru for head office design and for go-live training at each region's plant. Most build and testing work is done remotely.

How are group accounts consolidated?

Each company keeps its own ledger. Inter-company transactions are recorded on both sides and eliminated in the group report, which shows consolidated results.

What if one of our companies is not in wave 25?

Each company is integrated according to its own wave and deadline. The ERP still produces phase 2 format invoices, so the switch is ready when that company's date arrives.

Are Makkah sites included in a national rollout?

Yes, as remote sites. Non-Muslims cannot enter Makkah, so training for that site is held in Jeddah or online, while the plant runs on the same system as the others.
