Manufacturing ERP Software in Doha for multi-site groups

Most Qatari manufacturing groups are run from Doha, often from offices in West Bay or along Salwa Road, while production happens elsewhere. A group might have a plant in the Doha Industrial Area, a unit in Ras Bufontas near the airport and another in Mesaieed Industrial City. Head office needs to see orders, output, stock and margins for all of them without waiting for site reports. Symake's factory ERP gives each site its own warehouses and work centres while finance and management work from one set of numbers. Consultants travel from Bengaluru for workshops and go-live, and the remote team keeps hours that overlap most of the Qatar working day.

One ERP across head office and plants

What each part of the group gets from the system

Head office

Head office

Group dashboards show orders, output, stock value and margins for every company and site, updated as transactions post.

Group finance

Group finance

Each company keeps its own QAR ledger, and inter-company sales between sites are recorded on both sides.

Central buying

Central buying

Buyers consolidate demand from all plants, raise purchase orders and see what each site still has on order.

Plant managers

Plant managers

Work orders, routings and work centre load for their own site, without access to other companies' books.

Site warehouses

Site warehouses

Stock by site, bin and lot, with transfers between Doha, Ras Bufontas and Mesaieed tracked while in transit.

Production planning

Production planning

Material requirements run across BOM levels and sites, suggesting purchases and work orders in good time.

Quality teams

Quality teams

Inspection plans at receipt and before dispatch, with failed lots held until someone releases them.

Machine upkeep

Machine upkeep

Preventive schedules and breakdown logs per machine, so downtime and spare parts use are visible.

Cost control

Cost control

Product cost rolls up from materials, labour and overhead, then actual cost is compared order by order.

Close the month for every company at once

Groups with several Qatar companies often close each one separately, then rebuild group figures in a spreadsheet. In Symake's ERP every company posts to its own ledger, but they share a chart structure, so consolidation becomes a report rather than a project. Inter-company sales and transfers are recorded on both sides. Management sees the group result days earlier, and auditors can drill from the group figure to the source document.

  • Separate ledgers in QAR per company
  • Inter-company entries on both sides
  • Group results without a spreadsheet
  • Drill-down to source documents

Group rollout, plant by plant, from Doha

Head office first, then each plant in turn

Group design

Companies, sites, charts of accounts and reporting lines are agreed with head office in Doha.

Master data

Shared items, suppliers and customers are cleaned once and made available to every company.

First plant

One site goes live with purchasing, stock, BOMs and work orders while the others watch.

Lessons

What worked and what needed changes at the first plant is fed into the next site's setup.

Other sites

Remaining plants go live one by one, with consultants on site in Qatar for each cutover.

Group close

Consolidated reporting is switched on once every company is posting in the ERP.

Qatar has no VAT law in force yet, though officials have said one is coming without giving a date. An e-invoicing law has also been approved, again without dates. That means a Doha group should choose an ERP that is prepared for both, rather than one that needs replacing later. Symake's system keeps tax settings switched off for Qatar companies today and can switch VAT on when Qatar introduces it. Invoices already carry structured data, so an e-invoicing link can be added once the rules are published. Group books are kept in QAR per company.

When every site runs its own tools, head office sees the group late and only in part. Symake's ERP, delivered from Bengaluru with 200+ projects behind it, keeps plants independent where they need to be and connected where it counts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our head office is in Doha but the plant is in Mesaieed. Does that matter?

No. Both locations log in to the same system. Each site has its own warehouses and work centres, head office sees all of them, and consultants visit both locations during the rollout.

Is VAT charged for Qatar companies yet?

No. Qatar has not brought a VAT law into force, so tax settings stay off for Qatar companies. When Qatar introduces VAT, the rates and rules can be switched on without changing the system.

Is there a Symake team in Doha?

No. Symake works from Bengaluru, India. Consultants fly to Qatar for workshops, training and go-live, and remote support runs in hours that overlap most of the Qatar working day.

Can we keep separate companies for Ras Bufontas and the Industrial Area?

Yes. Each legal entity keeps its own ledger, stock and documents. Shared items and suppliers avoid duplicate records, and group reports combine them when you need one view.

How do we choose between ERP vendors?

Look at three things: how well the system fits your production style, whether the vendor will stay with you after go-live, and whether the system can adapt to rules Qatar has not yet published. Ask for a demo with your own product.

Which reports does management get?

Typical views include open orders, output by plant, stock value by site, margin by product and customer, overdue receivables and cash by company. Dashboards refresh as transactions post.

Can the system handle work sent to subcontractors?

Yes. Material issued to a subcontractor is tracked as stock at their premises until finished parts come back, and their charge is added to the cost of the order.

Is training in English?

Yes. All training, screens and support are in English. Sessions are short and organised by role, so plant staff, buyers and accountants learn the screens they will use.
