Multi-branch FMCG ERP, Billing, Inventory and Distribution in Oman

Most Omani FMCG distributors outgrow a single depot. A head office in Muscat may run branches in Sohar on the Batinah coast, Nizwa in the interior, Sur in the east and Salalah in Dhofar, with Duqm becoming a stop on longer routes. Each branch bills locally, yet finance needs one view of stock, sales and money owed. SalesMake gives every branch its own depot, price lists and routes inside one company record, so transfers, VAT invoices and collections roll up without consolidation work. Consultants fly in from Bengaluru for workshops, and support is remote.

Nine features for multi-branch distributors

For head offices that control depots across Oman

Branch depots

Branch depots

Set up each branch depot with its own stock, staff and routes, all reporting into one set of accounts.

Inter-branch transfers

Inter-branch transfers

Move stock from Muscat to Nizwa or Sur with transfer notes that keep batch and expiry details intact.

Central pricing

Central pricing

Keep price lists and schemes under head-office control, with branch exceptions only where approved.

Branch billing

Branch billing

Each branch issues its own VAT invoices with a separate numbering sequence that finance can audit.

Group credit

Group credit

Customers that buy from two branches carry one limit, so a chain cannot exceed it by switching depots.

Expiry across branches

Expiry across branches

See short-dated batches in every depot and move them to the branch that sells that line fastest.

Consolidated outstanding

Consolidated outstanding

View receivables by branch, salesman and customer group from a single screen at head office in Muscat.

Branch dashboards

Branch dashboards

Each branch manager sees their own sales, stock and collections, while head office sees all of them.

Single ledger

Single ledger

Every branch posts into full double-entry books, so the monthly close is one process, not one per branch.

When each branch keeps its own billing tool, head office learns about problems late. A Sohar branch may be overstocked while Salalah is short, or a chain may owe money to two depots at once. SalesMake puts all branches on one database, so stock can be moved before it expires, credit is checked group-wide, and the finance team closes the month from a single ledger.

  • Stock balanced between branch depots
  • Credit checked across all branches
  • Branch results visible at head office
  • One close for the whole company

Rolling out across Oman in six steps

Head office first, then branches one by one

Head office

We start in Muscat with finance and sales leads to set the company structure, prices and credit rules.

Branch setup

Each branch depot, route list and user team is configured inside the same company record.

Pilot branch

One branch, often the closest to Muscat, goes live first so issues are fixed before wider rollout.

Training trips

Consultants fly in to train branch teams in English, with remote sessions for smaller depots.

Branch waves

Remaining branches switch in waves, with opening stock counted and balances loaded each time.

Ongoing support

Remote support from Bengaluru covers all branches during hours that overlap the Omani week.

Billing and stock rules in Oman

Across Oman, VAT is 5% and has been in force since April 2021 under the Oman Tax Authority. Excise applies to some goods, such as sweetened and energy drinks. E-invoicing is arriving through Fawtara: a pilot for the largest taxpayers was planned from August 2026, phase 2 is planned for early 2027 and phase 3 for mid to late 2027, with dates still subject to change. For a multi-branch distributor, the safer approach is one invoicing setup for all branches, which SalesMake provides, rather than separate tools in each governorate.

One VAT setup shared by every branch
Excise rules applied the same everywhere
Fawtara readiness handled once, centrally
Branch invoice series kept auditable

Frequently Asked Questions

Can one SalesMake setup cover branches in several governorates?

Yes. Branches in Muscat, Sohar, Salalah, Nizwa, Sur or Duqm each have their own depot, routes and users inside one company, with shared item, price and customer records.

How do transfers between Muscat and Salalah work?

A transfer note moves stock out of one depot and into another, keeping batch and expiry details. Goods in transit are tracked until the receiving branch confirms them.

Can a chain's limit apply across all our branches?

Yes. A chain buying from several branches can have one account and one limit, so its total exposure is visible and orders from any branch are checked against it.

Which Omani branch should switch over first?

Usually the head-office depot in Muscat or the branch closest to it, so the process is proven where managers can watch it closely. Other branches then follow in waves.

How does Fawtara affect a group with many branches?

Fawtara is being phased in, with later phases planned for 2027. A group with one invoicing setup across branches only has to prepare once, rather than in every governorate.

Do your consultants travel to branches outside Muscat?

Consultants fly in from Bengaluru for workshops and go-live and can cover Muscat, Sohar, Salalah or other branches as agreed. Smaller depots can also be trained online.

Can branch managers see only their own figures?

Yes. Access is set by role and branch, so a Nizwa manager sees Nizwa stock, sales and collections, while head office sees every branch together.

Are the screens available in Arabic?

Screens, training and support are delivered in English, so branch users should be comfortable working in English. Invoices carry the details Omani VAT rules call for.
