FMCG Distributor Management System in Oman for national brands

A brand selling across Oman rarely has one distributor. It may have a main partner in Muscat, another covering Sohar and the Batinah coast, one in Salalah for Dhofar and smaller partners around Nizwa, Sur and Duqm. Each one has its own habits, spreadsheets and claim format. SalesMake puts all of them on the same rules. Price lists, schemes and claim terms come from the brand, while each distributor keeps its own warehouse, staff and books. The brand gets national sell-out, stock and scheme cost in one place, with every figure traceable to a retailer invoice.

A national distributor network in one system

What the brand and each Omani partner see

Network view

Network view

See every distributor's stock, sell-out and claims on one screen, then drill into a governorate, partner or route.

Common rules

Common rules

Price lists and schemes are set once by the brand and applied by each partner when orders are booked.

Territory control

Territory control

Outlets belong to one partner per brand, so a grocery in Nizwa is never invoiced by two distributors for the same item.

Partner stock

Partner stock

Each partner's warehouse stock is held by lot and expiry date, and the brand sees cover days for its own items.

Retailer-level sales

Retailer-level sales

Every invoice from distributor to retailer is a sales record, giving the brand outlet-level data across the country.

Returns tracking

Returns tracking

Returns from groceries and supermarkets are logged with reasons, so the brand sees which areas and items come back most.

Claim approvals

Claim approvals

Each partner's claim is built from invoice lines. The brand approves or queries lines and settles against open balances.

New partners

New partners

A distributor for Sur or Duqm can be added from the brand's template and start booking orders on the same terms.

Partner comparison

Partner comparison

Compare distributors on outlet coverage, sell-out growth, returns and overdue balances, area by area.

One claim format for every Omani partner

When each distributor sends claims in its own layout, brand finance spends days reconciling them. In SalesMake the claim is generated from the same scheme rules for every partner. A line in Sohar looks like a line in Salalah, each one opens the retailer invoice behind it, and approved amounts settle against what the partner owes. Month-end becomes a review of exceptions rather than a rebuild.

  • Same claim layout for all partners
  • Lines traced to retailer invoices
  • Queries tracked until resolved
  • Settlement posted to both ledgers

Bringing Omani partners onto SalesMake in turn

One partner first, then the rest of the network

Brand rules

We start with the brand: items, channel prices, schemes and claim terms that every partner will follow.

Pilot partner

One distributor, often in Muscat, goes live first, so the rules are proven on real orders.

Template

Lessons from the pilot are folded into a template that later partners are created from.

Wave rollout

Partners in Sohar, Salalah, Nizwa and Sur follow in planned waves, each with on-site or online training.

National view

As each partner joins, its sell-out and claims appear in the brand's national dashboard.

Support

Remote support from Bengaluru covers the Omani working week for the brand and every partner.

Distributors and trade channels in Oman

Every distributor in the network charges VAT at 5%, the rate the Oman Tax Authority has applied since April 2021. Fawtara e-invoicing is being phased in nationally. Its phase 1 pilot for about 100 of the largest taxpayers was planned from August 2026; phase 2 is indicated for early 2027 and phase 3 for mid to late 2027, and the dates may still move. A brand's partners may fall into different phases, so SalesMake keeps each distributor's invoice data structured and its VAT posted line by line. Excise goods such as energy drinks stay on separate lines in every partner's books.

Frequently Asked Questions

We work with different distributors in Muscat, Sohar and Salalah. Can they all use SalesMake?

Yes. Each distributor runs in its own company with its own warehouse, staff and books, while sharing the brand's items, prices, schemes and claim rules.

Can the brand see stock at each partner?

Yes, for its own items. Stock is shown by partner, warehouse, lot and expiry date, with cover days at current sales, so the brand can see where goods are short or ageing.

How are territories handled between governorates?

Each outlet belongs to one partner per brand. Borders between partners are set at outlet level, so a town between two territories is never served twice for the same item.

Which partner should go live first?

Often the one with the most outlets or the cleanest data, frequently in Muscat. Proving the rules there makes later partners quicker, because they start from a tested template.

Do all partners need to be in the same Fawtara phase?

No. Partners may fall into different phases depending on their size. Phases after the pilot are still planned, and we connect each partner when its phase is confirmed.

Can a partner in Duqm work with weak coverage?

Yes. The mobile app stores orders, visits and collections offline and syncs when coverage returns. Desk users need a connection, but reps on outlying routes can keep working.

Can partners see each other's data?

No. Each distributor sees only its own company. The brand sees its items across all partners, and partners never see one another's figures or customers.

Will Symake staff travel to Salalah or Sur?

Yes, when the rollout needs it. Consultants fly in from Bengaluru for brand workshops and partner go-lives, and other training can run online.
