Khareef-ready ERP, POS and Retail Inventory Solutions in Salalah

Every year from roughly June to September, the Khareef draws crowds of visitors to the Dhofar capital. Retailers in Al Saada and Al Dahariz see footfall rise, and temporary kiosks appear around Al Haffa and near Hawana Salalah. Goods often arrive through Salalah Port or the Salalah Free Zone, and the long road from Muscat makes good stock planning essential. Symake completes the rollout in the spring, sets seasonal stock levels from past Khareef sales and adds kiosk counters for the season. Branches in Mirbat and Taqah can be included in the same plan.

Past Khareef sales by week guide orders, so stores hold enough stock before resupply becomes slow.

Goods landed at Salalah Port are received against purchase orders, with shipping added to item cost.

Kiosk to store transfers

At the end of the Khareef we review sell-through by location and plan the buying for next year.

A season plan, not just a system

The Khareef rewards retailers who prepare early. Symake's retail rollout includes a season plan: which kiosks will open, which store supplies each one, what stock to hold and when to reorder. Temporary staff are trained in a short counter session. After the season, kiosks are closed, stock is returned and the figures feed next year's plan.

  • Kiosk list and supply store agreed early
  • Stock targets set before the rush
  • Short counter training for temporary staff
  • End-of-season stock returned and reviewed

After the Khareef we close kiosks, return stock and review the season's figures.

One retail stack for Salalah

Salalah retailers charge VAT at 5%, in force across Oman since April 2021 and managed by the Oman Tax Authority. Seasonal kiosks must apply VAT in the same way as permanent stores. Fawtara e-invoicing is being phased in: a phase 1 pilot was planned from August 2026 for about 100 of the largest taxpayers, followed by phase 2, indicated for early 2027, and phase 3, indicated for mid to late 2027. As these dates are planned rather than fixed, Symake keeps invoice data structured from the start, so your group can join its phase without changing how stores work.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should a Salalah retailer go live before the Khareef?

Aim for early spring. That leaves several weeks of normal trading for staff to learn the new tills and for any issues to be fixed before visitor numbers rise.

Can we run seasonal kiosks near Hawana Salalah and Al Haffa?

Yes. Each kiosk is a temporary counter with its own stock and shift. It draws stock from a nearby store and is closed at the end of the season with a final count.

How do you plan stock when resupply from Muscat is slow?

We use past Khareef sales by week to set stock targets and order dates. Buyers see suggested orders early, so goods arrive before demand peaks.

Which payments suit visitors in Salalah?

Counters accept OmanNet, international cards and Apple Pay. Each payment is matched to the shift, so cash and card totals are clear at closing.

How do temporary cashiers get access?

Seasonal staff receive limited logins that expire at the end of the season. They can sell, return and exchange items but cannot change prices or stock.

Do Symake consultants come to Salalah?

Consultants fly in for key workshops, training and go-live. During the season, support is provided remotely from Bengaluru on Omani working days, with urgent issues handled first.

Can branches in Mirbat and Taqah join?

Yes. They can use the same catalogue, prices and stock as your Salalah stores. Transfers move goods between towns, and owners see all branches in one report.

What happens to kiosk stock after the season?

Remaining items are counted and transferred back to a store or warehouse. Any differences are recorded, so you know exactly what each kiosk sold and lost.
