Countrywide ERP, POS and Retail Inventory Solutions in Oman

Retail groups in Oman often run branches across several governorates, from Muscat and the Batinah coast to the interior and Dhofar. Distances are long, so each region usually has its own stockroom fed from a main warehouse. Symake plans the rollout in regional waves: the capital first, then Sohar and the Batinah, then Nizwa and Sur, and finally Salalah, timed to avoid the Khareef. Newer areas such as Duqm can join when your group opens there. Every wave uses the same catalogue, pricing and reports, so owners see the whole country on one screen.

A nationwide rollout for Omani groups

Delivered in regional waves with one stock and one ledger

Regional wave plan

Regional wave plan

Branches are grouped by region, and each wave has its own dates, training sessions and go-live support.

Main and regional stockrooms

Main and regional stockrooms

Goods move from the main warehouse to regional stockrooms and then to stores, each step tracked by transfer.

Regional pricing

Regional pricing

Most prices stay national, while a region can carry its own offers when local demand calls for it.

Store counters

Every branch uses the same counter screens for sales, returns, exchanges and loyalty, wherever it is.

Waves that respect distance and seasons

A nationwide rollout cannot happen in a single weekend. Symake's retail rollout plans each regional wave around travel time, local stockrooms and seasonal patterns, such as avoiding the Khareef in Dhofar. Each wave reuses the playbook from the last, so later regions go live faster. Owners approve each wave before the next one starts.

  • Capital and main warehouse go first
  • Each wave reuses the tested playbook
  • Dhofar timed outside the Khareef
  • Owner approval before each new wave

How a national rollout unfolds

Six stages for groups with branches across Oman

Assess

We list every branch, stockroom and channel by governorate and agree the wave order.

Design

One national design covers items, pricing, payments, companies and reports.

Pilot

The main warehouse and a few capital stores go live and prove the setup.

Waves

Regions follow one by one, each with data loading, training and go-live support.

Online

The web shop is connected to national stock once regional stockrooms are live.

Sustain

Remote support continues, with reviews of stock accuracy across all regions.

One retail stack for Oman

VAT in Oman is 5% and has applied since April 2021, administered by the Oman Tax Authority. It applies the same way in every governorate, so one tax setup covers all branches. Fawtara, the national e-invoicing programme, is being phased in by taxpayer size. A phase 1 pilot was planned from August 2026 for about 100 of the largest taxpayers, phase 2 is indicated for early 2027 and phase 3 for mid to late 2027. The dates are planned, not final. Symake keeps invoice data structured across all companies in your group, so each one can join Fawtara when its phase is confirmed.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you decide the order of regions in Oman?

We usually start with the capital and the main warehouse, then follow distance and stock flow. Seasonal factors matter too, so Dhofar branches go live outside the Khareef.

Can each governorate have its own stockroom?

Yes. Regional stockrooms receive goods from the main warehouse and supply nearby stores. Every movement is tracked by transfer, so stock is accurate at each level.

Can our group run several companies in one system?

Yes. Each legal company keeps its own books and VAT figures, while items, suppliers and reports can be shared across the group.

Does the web shop ship across the whole country?

Yes. Online orders can ship from the stockroom closest to the customer or be collected at a branch in their town, using live national stock.

How does VAT work for branches in different governorates?

VAT is 5% across Oman and is administered nationally by the Oman Tax Authority, so one tax setup covers every branch and every company in the group.

When will Fawtara apply to our companies?

Fawtara phases are planned by taxpayer size and the dates are not final. We keep invoice data structured, so each company can be connected when its phase is confirmed.

Do consultants travel to branches outside Muscat?

Consultants fly in for workshops, training and go-live, and can travel to regional hubs for key waves. Day-to-day support is remote from Bengaluru on Omani working days.

Can we deal in currencies other than OMR?

Yes. OMR stays the base currency, and purchases or sales in other currencies are recorded with exchange rates, which helps groups that buy from abroad.
