Omnichannel ERP, POS and Retail Inventory Solutions in Muscat

Muscat is Oman's capital and largest market, and family-owned retail groups here often run stores across several governorates from a head office in the city. A typical group has busy stores in Qurum and Al Khuwair, an older branch in Ruwi or Muttrah and a warehouse in Rusayl Industrial Estate. Symake connects all of these with the group's online store, so a shopper can buy on the web and collect from the nearest branch. The rollout starts with the warehouse and one or two capital stores, then extends to branches in Seeb, Barka and Nizwa. Our consultants fly in for workshops and go-live, and support continues remotely.

What Muscat retail groups receive

Setup, migration and support for stores and online

Head office design

Head office design

We map how buying, pricing and finance work at your Muscat head office before any configuration starts.

Central warehouse

Central warehouse

Receiving, putaway and picking at the warehouse are set up first, since every store depends on its deliveries.

Store counters

Store counters

Tills support barcode scanning, returns, exchanges and loyalty, and keep selling offline when the line drops.

OmanNet and cards

OmanNet and cards

Counters accept OmanNet debit cards, other cards and Apple Pay, with each payment matched to the cashier's shift.

Online orders

Online orders

The web shop uses live stock, and orders can be shipped from the warehouse or collected from a chosen store.

Store replenishment

Store replenishment

Stores get suggested reorders based on sales and minimum levels, which the warehouse then picks and sends.

Stock counts

Stock counts

Cycle counts by aisle or category catch differences early without closing the store for a full count.

VAT reporting

VAT reporting

Sales and purchases carry VAT at 5%, and the figures needed for your VAT return are ready each period.

Group dashboards

Group dashboards

Owners see sales, margin and stock for every store and the online channel together, by day, week or month.

Customers in Muscat browse online and then visit a store, or the other way round. Symake's retail rollout gives both channels the same stock, prices and loyalty points. An online order reserves stock in the right location at once. Returns can be made in any store, and finance sees one set of figures for the whole group instead of separate channel reports.

  • Live stock shown on the web shop
  • Loyalty points earned in any channel
  • Collect in store from the nearest branch
  • One set of figures for all channels

One retail stack for Muscat

Since April 2021 the Oman Tax Authority has collected VAT at 5% on retail sales. The Fawtara e-invoicing programme is being phased in. A phase 1 pilot was planned from August 2026 for about 100 of the largest taxpayers, with phase 2 indicated for early 2027 and phase 3 for mid to late 2027. These dates are planned and may change. Symake sets up VAT on every sale and purchase now and keeps invoice data structured, so moving onto Fawtara when your group's phase arrives is a configuration task rather than a new project.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can stores in Qurum and Al Khuwair share stock with our online shop?

Yes. Every store and the web shop use one stock. Online orders reserve items in a chosen store or the warehouse, and customers can collect in the branch nearest to them.

Do you set up the warehouse in Rusayl as part of the project?

Yes. The warehouse is usually configured first, with receiving, putaway, picking and transfers to stores, because every branch relies on its deliveries.

Which payment methods work at Muscat counters?

Counters accept OmanNet debit cards, other cards and Apple Pay. Each payment is matched to the cashier's shift, so the cash and card totals are clear at closing.

How does the system handle Oman VAT?

VAT at 5% is applied to sales, returns and purchases. The figures you need for your return to the Oman Tax Authority are available at the end of each period.

Are you ready for Fawtara e-invoicing?

Invoice data is kept structured from the start. Fawtara phases are still planned, so when your group's phase is confirmed we connect the system as a configuration step.

Can branches outside Muscat join later?

Yes. Branches in Seeb, Barka, Nizwa or further away can join in a later phase. They use the same catalogue, prices and reports as the capital stores.

Does Symake have staff based in Muscat?

No. Symake works from Bengaluru and has no office in the GCC. Consultants fly in for workshops, training and go-live, and support is remote on Omani working days.

What training do our store teams get?

Cashiers, supervisors, storekeepers and finance staff each get role-based training in English, with short written guides they can keep at the counter or desk.
