Planning ERP, POS and Retail Inventory Solutions in Doha

Doha is where most Qatari retail groups keep their head office and their busiest branches. A chain might run mall stores near West Bay, a street-front branch on Salwa Road, a counter in Msheireb and a stockroom close to Hamad International Airport. Symake plans the rollout around that map. Discovery comes first, then a single pilot branch, then the rest of the city in waves. NAPS debit cards, credit cards and Apple Pay are tied to each till from the start. Qatar has no VAT law in force yet, so tax is set up but switched off, ready to turn on when the law arrives.

What we deliver for Doha retail groups

From the first workshop to support after the last branch

Head-office workshops

Head-office workshops

Buying, finance and operations teams meet our consultants in Doha to agree how stock, prices and approvals should work.

Branch survey

Branch survey

Each store is visited to check counters, network points and devices before its rollout wave is confirmed.

Catalogue loading

Catalogue loading

Items, barcodes, units and supplier links are loaded from your current tools after a joint cleanup.

NAPS payments

NAPS payments

Debit cards on the NAPS network, along with credit cards and Apple Pay, are linked to the till and matched daily.

Go-live timing

Go-live timing

Branches switch early in the working week, away from the Friday and Saturday peak, with a consultant on hand.

Group reporting

Group reporting

Management sees sales, margin and stock by branch and by brand in QAR as the base currency, with other currencies for foreign purchasing.

Online and in-store

Online and in-store

The online store shares stock with branches, so delivery and pickup orders only promise what is really there.

Future tax switch

Future tax switch

When Qatar introduces VAT, tax codes and receipt layouts are already prepared, so switching on is a configuration task.

Remote helpdesk

Remote helpdesk

Support tickets go to Symake's team in Bengaluru, whose day overlaps most of the Doha working day.

Ready for VAT and e-invoicing when Qatar moves

Qatar does not have a VAT law in force yet, and an e-invoicing law has been approved without set dates. Rather than wait, Symake builds the solution so that both can be switched on later. Tax codes exist but stay inactive. Receipt layouts have space for tax lines. Customer and supplier records hold the fields an e-invoice will need. When dates are announced, the change becomes a planned update, not a new rollout.

  • Tax codes prepared, not active
  • Receipt layouts with room for tax lines
  • E-invoice fields stored on records
  • Switch-on planned once dates exist

The Doha rollout, step by step

What happens between the first meeting and the last branch

Kick-off

We meet your owners and managers in Doha to confirm scope, branches and the people who sign off.

Blueprint

A written design covers items, pricing, payments, warehouses and reports, ready for your approval.

Data load

Cleaned items, suppliers, customers and stock are loaded and reconciled with your current figures.

Pilot branch

One store trades live first while we compare sales and stock to the old records each evening.

City waves

Remaining Doha branches go live in groups, each with training and a consultant on the first day.

Aftercare

Remote support continues, with monthly reviews of reports and any changes your team needs.

One retail stack for Doha

Qatar has no VAT in force yet, so Doha receipts currently show prices without tax, and the system is ready to add tax lines once a law is introduced. The weekend is Friday and Saturday, so go-live dates and support hours are planned around that. Prices, cash and books are all held in QAR by default. Groups that also own stores in the UAE or Saudi Arabia can keep each country as its own company, with its own currency, while managers see one consolidated report.

QAR books, other currencies for imports
Weekend of Friday and Saturday respected
Tax lines ready once a law is introduced
Separate companies for each country

Frequently Asked Questions

Qatar has no VAT yet. Why does the setup include tax codes?

Qatar has signalled that VAT is coming, though no date is set. Preparing tax codes and receipt layouts now means the switch becomes a short configuration task when the law takes effect, without disturbing your branches.

Can tills in Doha accept NAPS debit cards?

Yes. NAPS debit cards, credit cards and Apple Pay are supported through compatible terminals. During discovery we list your current terminals and bank arrangements and confirm which can link directly to the till.

When do Doha branches usually switch over?

Early in the working week. Since the weekend falls on Friday and Saturday, we avoid switching on those busy days. A consultant is present or on a live call for the first trading hours of each branch.

We also have stores in the UAE. Can one project cover both countries?

Yes. Each country becomes its own company with its own currency and tax settings, and the catalogue and reports can be shared. UAE branches follow UAE rules on VAT and e-invoicing, while Qatar branches keep tax off until a law is introduced.

Does Symake have staff based in Doha?

No. The whole Symake team sits in Bengaluru, India. Consultants travel to Doha for workshops, training and go-live days. Everyday support is remote and runs during hours that overlap the Qatar working day.

Our central stock is near Hamad International Airport. How does it connect to branches?

It is set up as a warehouse that supplies branches through transfer orders. Branch managers request stock, the warehouse picks and ships it, and the branch confirms receipt by scanning, so differences show up straight away.

Can we run promotions only in some Doha branches?

Yes. Promotions can be limited to chosen branches, dates and times. A mall branch in West Bay can run a weekend offer while a Salwa Road branch keeps normal prices, and reports show results per branch.

Which language will our Doha store teams be trained in?

All training and support are delivered in English. We run short practical sessions for cashiers and longer ones for supervisors and back-office staff, and leave written guides for each common task.
