Rolling out ERP, POS and Retail Inventory Solutions in Abu Dhabi

Retail groups in the capital rarely run one store. A typical chain has branches near Al Wahda and Marina Mall, a neighbourhood store in Khalifa City, a warehouse in Mussafah and a few more in Al Ain. Symake treats that spread as a rollout plan, not a single install. We start with one pilot branch and confirm that sales, stock and VAT figures reconcile for a full week. Then the next wave of stores moves onto the same system. Each wave gets its own data load, training day and go-live date, so head office never runs two systems longer than needed.

What the Abu Dhabi rollout covers

Nine work packages, each with an owner and a date

Discovery workshops

Discovery workshops

Consultants fly in from Bengaluru to walk your stores, sit with buyers and finance, and write down how each branch works today.

Store rollout plan

Store rollout plan

Branches are grouped into waves by region and size, with a go-live date, a trainer and a fallback plan for every wave.

Data migration

Data migration

Item masters, barcodes, suppliers, opening stock and loyalty balances are cleaned, loaded and checked against your old figures.

Offline counters

Offline counters

Tills keep selling when the internet drops and post every receipt once the line returns, so queues in mall branches keep moving.

VAT on receipts

VAT on receipts

Every receipt carries VAT at 5% and your tax registration details, and the same figures flow into the VAT return data.

Warehouse transfers

Warehouse transfers

Stock moves from Mussafah to branches on transfer orders with barcodes, so both sides see the same quantity in transit.

Online store link

Online store link

Your online store sells from the same stock as the branches, and click-and-collect orders reserve items at the chosen store.

Card and wallet payments

Card and wallet payments

Card terminals and Apple Pay are linked to each till, and settlements are matched to sales per branch every day.

Support after go-live

Support after go-live

Remote support from Bengaluru runs inside the UAE working week, with a named contact for each wave until it settles.

Getting ready for UAE e-invoicing in 2027

The Ministry of Finance has set e-invoicing dates for UAE businesses. Groups with revenue of AED 50 million or more go live on 1 January 2027, so their accredited service provider should already be lined up. Others appoint by 31 March 2027 and switch on from 1 July 2027. Symake builds the invoice data structure into the rollout, so your stores do not need a second project next year.

  • Invoice data prepared during setup
  • Works with your accredited provider
  • Dates planned into the store waves
  • One customer and supplier master

How a store wave goes live

Six steps we repeat for each group of branches

Walkthrough

A consultant visits the stores in the wave and notes counters, printers, scales and staff shifts.

Data check

Items, prices and opening stock for those stores are loaded and compared with the old system.

Hardware test

Tills, receipt printers and card terminals are tested at the branch before the switch date.

Staff training

Cashiers and supervisors practice sales, returns and shift closing on a training copy.

Go-live day

The branch opens on the new system with a Symake consultant present or on a live call.

Hypercare

For two weeks after go-live, we review daily sales, stock and cash differences with the manager.

One retail stack for Abu Dhabi

Retail groups in Abu Dhabi work under UAE federal rules. VAT is 5% and corporate tax is 9%, so the system keeps sales, costs and VAT by branch and by company. The UAE weekend is Saturday and Sunday, and India's working day overlaps most of yours, so support calls happen during your business hours. Prices and accounts run in AED as standard, with other currencies available when a group also trades outside the UAE. E-invoicing becomes mandatory in 2027, and the setup includes the invoice fields an accredited service provider needs.

VAT at 5% on every receipt and return
Corporate tax figures kept by company
AED pricing, other currencies when needed
E-invoicing fields included from day one

Frequently Asked Questions

Can stores in Al Ain go live on the same day as Abu Dhabi city branches?

They can, but we usually advise against it. Al Ain branches tend to go in a later wave so a consultant can be present at each site. Both cities share one item master and price list, so a staggered start does not create two versions of your data.

Is there a Symake office in Abu Dhabi we can visit?

No. Symake is headquartered in Mahadevapura, Bengaluru. Consultants fly in for workshops, training and go-live days, and day-to-day support is handled remotely during the UAE working week.

How do you handle stock in our Mussafah warehouse during the switch?

We count the warehouse just before its go-live date and load that count as opening stock. Transfers that are in transit on the day are listed and received on the new system, so nothing is counted twice.

Which records can you carry over from the tools our capital branches use now?

Item masters, barcodes, supplier lists, open purchase orders, customer records and loyalty balances are the usual set. Closed transactions from past years usually stay in the old system as a read-only archive, with opening balances carried into the new books.

How long does a ten-branch rollout across the capital usually take?

It depends on how clean your data is and how many waves you choose. Discovery and setup come first, then a pilot branch, then the remaining stores in waves. We agree the timeline after discovery, not before, so the dates are realistic.

Will the system be ready for the 2027 e-invoicing start in Abu Dhabi?

Yes. The setup includes the invoice data an accredited service provider needs. Large groups start on 1 January 2027 and the rest on 1 July 2027, and we plan your store waves so that invoicing is stable before your date.

Can our Abu Dhabi cashiers be trained in Arabic?

Classes for your capital branches, and the helpdesk after them, are held in English. We train store supervisors first so they can coach cashiers on the floor, and each wave gets short guides with screenshots for the tasks staff do every day.

Can the online store share stock with our branches on the islands?

Yes. The online store reads the same stock as the branches and the warehouse. An order can be shipped from Mussafah or picked up at a store on Al Reem or Yas Island, and the quantity drops in one place.
